Would you mind validating your findings with Lightworks 20 using the test project attached below? The project contains two clip and one sequence. To compare performance between systems, it needs using exactly the same load, meaning the same sequence on all systems. However, back on topic, that doesn't explain why Lightworks 2022 performs well on your system, but 2023 doesn't.īeside of the available computer ressources, editing performance always depends on the media format used (resolution and codec) and the complexity of the edit (number of media streams, kind and number of effects). Using the GPU for scaling (and effects) and the CPU for decoding/encoding creates a lot of traffic on the bus and, an unbalanced system configuration, powerful CPU with weak GPU, can slow down the overall editing performance signficantly. The most obvious difference is that Lightworks always uses the GPU for scaling wheras with FFmpeg that's just a rarely used option. You can safely assume that the render engine of Lightworks is fundamentally different from a regular FFmpeg encoding pipleine.
